Clipper Cruise Line

To provide discerning travelers with a thoughtful way to see places of natural beauty and cultural interest. To this end, we use small, intimate ships with access to secluded waterways that bigger ships could never consider

Like many birds, our small ships are migratory and follow the sun, northbound in the summer and southbound in the winter, always ready for spontaneous discoveries — a pod of whales, a school of dolphins, or a scenic highlight.
On board, our crews provide a welcoming, unpretentious environment, leaving you free to set your own pace. You may opt to explore on your own, join a shore tour, or just relax on deck or in our smoke-free lounge

Firsthand Discovery with Naturalists and Historians
Onboard activities often parallel our destinations and excursions. Rather than entertainers, we travel with carefully selected "enlighteners" — naturalists, historians and other experts — who, in fact, do entertain as they offer informal lectures, lead expeditions ashore and invite questions. Depending on the part of the world, options for your day might include, for example, swimming, snorkeling and a hike in an island’s wildlife preserves, or a museum visit, Native folk dances and a discussion of totem-pole storytelling.
Clipper’s veteran travelers will tell you they particularly appreciate our unregimented approach to activities and excursions; we simply make outstanding options available for your consideration and enjoyment.

The small size and great maneuverability of our ships enable us to navigate in secluded waters that have remained largely immune to the encroachments of development and tourism. Our ships not only can go where large ships cannot, they can also stop — at small ports, hidden fjords or uninhabited islands — and take passengers ashore in our fleet of motorized landing craft. We can change course as opportunities present themselves, perhaps for an impromptu stroll among brightly colored flora, to watch a whale, or for a moment of silence as we contemplate an age-old glacier.

The lifestyle aboard Clipper ships is informal and relaxed, with an ambiance made possible by small numbers of fellow passengers and excellent service provided by our personable young crew. All of our ships feature well-appointed interiors that provide welcome settings without ostentation; and all have elegant, window-lined dining rooms and lounges, as well as in our comfortable, all-outside cabins.

Tipping: The question of tipping aboard the ship often arises. We believe this is an individual decision. When such gratuities are extended, the amount should be based on the quality and manner of service. Tips to personnel are handled at the end of the cruise on a pooled basis. When asked, we suggest $10 per day per passenger. Gratuities may be extended with cash, traveler’s checks, or personal checks.
